1. Position Title : Security Patrol Officer

2. Employee Status : Permanent - Full Time

 4. Salary Details : You will be paid on a fortnightly basis.

Your rate of pay, and other work-related conditions or entitlements will be as defined in the AIG Security Pty Ltd Enterprise Agreement. Your pay will be varied as and when the Enterprise Agreement specifies, to reflect the rates applicable to the sites to which you are assigned. Superannuation and Long Service Leave will be paid according to the relevant Legislation.

5. Hours of Work: 38 hours per week

6. General Terms & Conditions:

Your place of work will be in the Wilson Security Patrol Section and is at the sole discretion of AIG Security and may be changed at any time with the minimum notice period. The Company will endeavour to consider your personal wishes in regard to any relocation.

You will at all times comply with AIG Security Standing Orders, Assignment Instructions, any additional General Operating Procedures or instructions issued from time to time and/or detailed specifics to the site to which you are assigned. Furthermore you will be required to complete any Company or Client Induction or ongoing training as part of your employment.

As a condition of your employment you are required to maintain at your own expense the following:

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Current Security Guard’s Licence

  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate

  • A telephone services

  • VicRoads Driver History Report


Should any of these licenses or services be cancelled, or cease to be valid for any reason, you are required to notify AIG Management immediately.

If you are charged with any offence whilst employed by AIG, you must notify Head Office immediately. Failure to comply with this instruction will be viewed as serious misconduct.

 

7. Probationary Period:

This offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory probation period of up to six (6) months. During this period you will be assessed by the Company in order to determine your ongoing suitability for the position of Security Officer. Depending on this assessment and on the availability of work at the time of your assessment, and at the sole discretion of AIG Security, you may be offered an ongoing permanent position. Alternatively, your employment may be terminated by giving the required notice in accordance with the National Employment Standards (NES).

8. Termination of Employment:

 In order to terminate services the employer and employee must give the following notice periods (except in the case of serious misconduct).

Payment in lieu of notice can be made at the discretion of the employer. An employee who fails to give the required notice will forfeit from any wages due to him/her a maximum amount equal to the ordinary time rate of pay for the period of notice not worked.

Upon termination or resignation from AIG Security you will return all uniforms in a dry cleaned and pressed condition. Any equipment issued to you by AIG Security will be returned in a complete and serviceable state. Should you fail to comply with these conditions you agree to the deduction of the cost for laundering and/or replacement uniforms and equipment from any monies owed to you by way of termination payment. AIG Security reserves the rights by law to claim against you any amounts not recovered from your termination pay.

9. Leave Entitlements:

Annual Leave of 4 weeks (pro rata) per annum. You must give a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice in writing for any Annual Leave you wish to use.

Personal/Carer’s Leave of 10 days (pro rata) per annum. You must give a minimum of 8 hours’ notice if you wish to take Personal/Carer’s Leave. You are to contact the Duty/Operations Supervisor via phone and speak to them directly to ensure your shift is replaced. A medical certificate must be provided for any absence due to injury or illness.

Parental Leave and Long Service Leave will be in accordance with the provisions of relevant legislation.

10. Misconduct :

The company considers the following actions by an employee as serious misconduct:

  • Theft
  • Fraud
  • Assault
  • The employee being intoxicated at work
  • Misuse of client or company equipment
  • Non-compliance with Standing Orders
  • Neglect of Duty
  • Refusal to obey the lawful command of the employer.
    NB: The above list is not all inclusive and management reserves the right to dismiss without notice for acts of serious misconduct.

11. Conflict of Interest : Whilst employed by AIG Security you are not to work for any other security company nor will you be an owner, partner or director of another security company without the prior written approval from the AIG Security CEO or General Manager. This is a conflict of interest and a compromise of the security of AIG and its clients. Any breach of this clause will result in your termination of employment.

12. Company/Client Vehicles : Company/client vehicles are for business use only. These vehicles are only to be driven by company authorised personnel. Furthermore, these vehicles are to be driven in a safe, responsible and economical manner.

As the driver of a company/client vehicle, you are required to supply a VicRoads Driver History Report; at the commencement of employment, once every 12 months and if you receive a traffic infringement whilst driving a company vehicle that may affect your demerit points.

The fuel to be used in company vehicles is Regular Unleaded (unless otherwise specified). You must not use company fuel cards for anything other than fuel for the vehicle you are driving. You are not to fill up other vehicles and are not to buy products unless authorised by AIG Management.

If you are involved in an accident whilst driving a company/client vehicle you are to report it immediately to the AIG Management Team. If you are at fault you will be liable for payment of costs associated with the accident/damage and may face formal disciplinary action.

The driver of each company/client vehicle is not only responsible the safety of the vehicle and it’s occupants but is also fully responsible for the payment of any fines/infringements issued whilst in control of the vehicle. As the onus is on drivers to pay these fines/infringements, we caution you to obey all road rules at all times.

13. Recovery of Money :

Subject to applicable legislation, you agree that the Company may at any time, during your employment or upon the termination of your employment for any reason, deduct from any amount/s that the Company owes to you any amount/s that you owe to the Company to the full extent permitted by law. The amount/s that the Company may recover from you under this provision includes, but is not limited to, any paid leave provided in advance or remuneration paid to you in respect of time not worked. You acknowledge that these deductions are allowed by the Enterprise Agreement.

You further agree that if you enter into any arrangement with the Company for monetary loan or advance, that arrangement is principally for your benefit and the Company may, upon termination of your employment for any reason and in so far as is reasonable, deduct from any amount/s that the Company owes to you any amount/s that you owe the Company to the full extent permitted by the law.

You agree that if you are provided a company/client vehicle, this is a benefit to you. Without limiting any other provision of this agreement, in the event that you are involved in a motor vehicle incident (using a company vehicle) and, as a result of being under the influence (to any extent) of drugs and/or alcohol or where you have been negligent (but not where the incident is determined by an insurer to be the fault of the other party), you maybe be directed to pay the Company the insurance excess (which is currently $2,500) or the cost of repairing damage, whichever is the lesser. The repayment, if required, must be 5 made within a reasonable time. If agreement cannot be reached, the timeframe for repayment will be determined under the Enterprise Agreement dispute resolution process. If your employment ends for any reason, the repayment must be made within 28 days of the date of termination of your employment and becomes a debt due and payable by you.

14. Confidentiality :

The employee understands and acknowledges that he/she owes the company a duty of confidentiality, with such duties having the meaning recognised by law from time to time. Accordingly, and without limiting the meaning of his/her duties, the employee agrees and undertakes that:

  1. he/she will not at any time knowingly disclose to any unauthorised person confidential information of the company which comes to his/her knowledge during the course of his/her employment;
  2. he/she will not at anytime put down or defame any employee, client and staff member of the AIG Management Team or the company;
  3. upon the termination of his/her employment he/she will return all intellectual property of the company to which he/she has access during the course of his/her employment, including all documents, materials, processes, and data whether in physical, electronic, computerised or any other form.
